The Sovereign2SilverStar Ski Marathon, or S2S, is a highlight of the cross-country skiing season in Vernon. This two-day event, held in early April, offers skiers a chance to race from Sovereign Lake to SilverStar’s Main Street, combining the best of both Nordic centres. The marathon features both classic and skate skiing, with participants choosing between 40 km or 21 km distances each day. What makes the S2S unique is its inclusive approach—whether you’re an elite athlete gunning for top times or a recreational skier looking for a fun challenge, the event has a place for everyone.
Participants can join the competitive wave for a chance to race against some of the best skiers in the country, or opt for the fun wave, where the goal is simply to enjoy the course and cross the finish line. The event’s tagline, “point to party,” captures its spirit—after skiing through beautiful terrain, racers finish in SilverStar Village, where a festive atmosphere greets them. With 1,200 participants, this event is both competitive and social, bringing together skiers from all over for a memorable weekend.
